Andrew Young, MBA, CPA, CGMA, has served as the Renner and Company CPA Managing Shareholder since October 2022, drawing on extensive experience from national and regional public accounting firms in New York prior to joining the firm in 2009. His passion for serving both nonprofit and private sectors drives his expertise in delivering audit, review, domestic and international tax services. He specializes in audits for trade associations, public charities, government contractors, professional service corporations, construction companies, private foundations, labor unions, and schools, with additional proficiency in auditing federal award programs and grants under Uniform Guidance and employee benefit plans.
As the leader of the firm’s attest practice, Andrew oversees a wide range of audit and review engagements, including those for federal award recipients, and manages the preparation of Form 990 returns for nonprofit organizations. He also serves as the shareholder responsible for the firm’s quality control system, ensuring rigorous standards through external peer reviews and internal inspections. His leadership strengthens the firm’s reputation for delivering high-quality services.
Andrew is a recognized thought leader, having authored articles for the firm’s nonprofit e-newsletter and developed comprehensive in-house training programs. His expertise makes him a sought-after speaker at industry conferences, where he shares insights on auditing and nonprofit tax compliance, engaging audiences with practical and actionable advice.
Educationally, Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Summa Cum Laude, from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York, and a Master of Business Administration, With Distinction, from Liberty University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia, Virginia, and New York, and holds a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Deeply committed to community service, Andrew has served as both Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Finance Committee for Liberty’s Promise, an Alexandria-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering low-income immigrant youth. Through this work, he supports initiatives that promote civic engagement, higher education, and meaningful career opportunities for young people.
